What does your job involve?
As a company founder and CEO, I lead the ART Health Solutions business towards our vision of a world with Happier, Healthier and Higher Performing people! My role is wide-ranging, but ultimately my job is to support our commercial, operations, technology development and innovation teams, bringing them together to ensure we deliver a first class service to all of our clients and stakeholders!
What experience do you bring to ART?
I have wide-ranging experience that has enabled me to perform the CEO role here at ART. Previously, as Principal Scientist at the GSK Human Performance Lab, I played a pivotal role in developing a scientific support programme for elite athletes and sportspeople, including several world and Olympic champions. I have a strong academic background, have published several book chapters, published over 20 journal articles and presented as an invited speaker at national and international conferences. My overall experience places me in an ideal position to ensure that we all deliver an impeccable standard of service, whilst maintaining scientific integrity.
What’s your background?
My background spans a number of sectors with a consistent thread of health and sports performance. I gained a PhD in Exercise Physiology before working with a number of elite athletes and professional sports clubs. I used the insights gained in elite sports to deliver innovative scientific support and R&D to a number of high profile consumer healthcare brands. From a personal sporting perspective, I played a high level football and cricket from an early age, only recently retiring from football.
What do you like most about working at ART?
The thing I most like about working at ART is the people I get to work with. I can honestly say it is an absolute pleasure to work alongside our team, knowing that I can fully trust and rely on them to deliver an awesome service to our clients. I also love the variation my role affords me, allowing me to keep abreast of all business developments without needing to be in the granular detail on a daily basis.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
When I‘m not working I like to spend time with two boys, playing and watching sports (pretty much anything!) as well as coaching my son’s football team – the mighty Wideopen Comets! I’ve always maintained a very keen interest in sport, health and wellbeing, and watching my sons develop is my biggest enjoyment! Away from the sporting arena, I love to eat out and visit National Trust landmarks, as well as holidays in the sun.
What would be your personal motto?
Being smart is surrounding yourself with people who are smarter than you!
